Red Wine–Braised Short Ribs

Ingredients 1/4 cup pure olive oil 6 pounds meaty beef short ribs on the bone. Potentially could replace with other meat cuts, such as Top Sirloin Steak 1 Salt and freshly ground pepper freshly ground pepper 2 celery ribs, coarsely chopped 1 carrot, coarsely chopped 1 large onion,coarsely chopped 1/2 cup tomato paste 5 thyme sprigs 3 anchovy fillets, chopped 2 1 bay leaf 1 head of garlic, halved crosswise 1 quart chicken stock or canned low-sodium broth 2 cups dry red wine 1/3 cup white vinegar 3 Instructions Preheat the oven to 325°F.

Vegetarian Shepard's Pie

A delicious Vegetarian Shepherd’s Pie, inspired by the Suvie cooking device recipe. Fresh mushrooms, carrots, cauliflower, and other hearty vegetables for the filling and creamy mashed potatoes as the topping make for a flavorful dish. Ingredients 2 tablespoons olive oil 1 stalk of celery, minced 8 oz fresh mushrooms, sliced 6 oz cauliflower florets 2 carrots, peeled and chopped 3 tsp salt (divided) 1 tsp pepper, or to taste 2 tbsp cornstarch 1/4 cup cranberry juice 1/2 cup vegetable stock (sub: Deglase pan after vege saute with 1/2 cup of water and generous pinch of salt) 2 tbsp tomato paste 1 cup frozen peas 1/2 cup heavy cream 3 tbsp butter, melted 3 garlic cloves, minced 1 lb potatoes, peeled and cut into 1” cubes 1 tsp chopped chives Instructions Pre-prep Preheat oven to 400°F.

Bread Pudding French Toast

Ingredients 1 loaf (about 1 pound) day-old brioche or challah bread, cut into 1-inch thick slices 6 large eggs 1½ cups whole milk ½ cup heavy cream ⅓ cup granulated sugar 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg ¼ teaspoon salt 4 tablespoons butter, for cooking Maple syrup, for serving Fresh berries and powdered sugar, for garnish (optional) 1 Instructions Prepare the custard mixture In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined Arrange bread slices in a single layer in a 9x13 baking dish Pour custard mixture evenly over bread slices Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight (at least 8 hours) 2 Cook the french toast

Ingredients 3 pounds bone-in beef short ribs 2 tablespoons vegetable or high smoking point oil 1 large onion, sliced 4 cloves garlic, minced 3 cups low-sodium broth or other liquid (alcohols, etc) 2 to 4 sprigs fresh herbs, such as rosemary or thyme Instructions Heat the oven and season the meat.

Slow Cooked Roast In Wine Sauce

Reallly like how the wine adds a unique flavor to the roast. Cranberry juice can be substituted for a similar flavor profile 6 oz per 2 servings Ingredients 2-3 pounds boneless beef chuck roast Kosher or sea salt Freshly ground black pepper 2 tablespoons canola oil 4 to 6 medium leeks or 2 yellow onions, or 1/2 a sweet onion 4 carrots 4 red potatoes 1 tablespoon tomato paste 1 sprig thyme (or ½ tablespoon) 1 sprig rosemary (or ½ tablespoon) Potatoes (optional) 1 1/2 cups red wine (I used Merlot, any red wine is fine) 1 cup low sodium beef broth or water Prep Instructions Slice leeks: cut off ends and dark green section (see photo below).

Saw this article that had a few other options too. 1 (7.5-oz) pkg buttermilk biscuit mix (Let’s try just 1/2 of this to keep fat down…) Instructions Preheat oven to 400°F.
